Monochrome VS Colour

14 Aug

This is one of those dresses where you don’t need to do anything with, just throw it on and be out. I love these kinds of dresses especially now that I have stepped out of my simplicity phase.

I took the afternoon to go to the local park and this was just a perfect throw-on-and-still-look-good. Aren’t jeans and a tee a throw on too? Yes they are but I have always believed that you look so much more put together and effortless with a dress that just does all the work for you.

This summer, I’ve been into printed dresses more than ever but this one is my loudest so far.

Play it Safe Sometimes

23 Jul

Image

Even when it comes to summer I am sometimes tempted to throw on my pop-to-the-corner-shop outfit and sometimes it is a disaster…but I’m still not bothered. In this outfit post I have tried to keep things easy but not looking lazy as I have had a lot of trips to the corner shop and as you can imagine, a girl likes to feel special every now and then. I decided I wasn’t going to let my laziness get in the way of looking, well, polished but still not look like I have tried too hard for a walk down my local.

1) Finding a top that looks simple but has some lace detailing, frills or trims add that extra oompf to your lazy-day-but-noone-knows-it and no one will really know it.

2) Minimal make-up is my philosophy and always has been but sometimes I have taken minimal to none at all. This time, I put on my favourite pink lipstick that I know suits me whatever the weather and a few brushes with the mascara and it only takes 30 seconds and makes such a difference.

3) The studs I am wearing are studs I have left for a while as punishment for wearing them every single day when I have countless pairs still in packaging dying to be worn. Today, I decided that it is about what you’re ‘comfortable’ with and what you ‘know’ will make you look good when you’re in a rush or not looking to make much effort.

Image

The heatwave has subsided but it is still slightly warm out so I decided to be safe with a pair of my most loved dark-wash jeans, sandals and a plain lace top.

Even the tiny clips add further detail.

February Missing

11 Mar

I haven’t posted for over half a month now, as I have been so busy trying to do the biggest things I wanted to achieve this year. February has been a very busy and stressful month for me. I have been trying to accomplish all my 2013 goals just after my January Blues and I think I am really getting there!

Making a Sale

b45a22c2-f5e7-4737-ae94-60205d2d5207_zps3b0c65f2

After listing so many of my clothes on eBay last year and constantly knocking down the prices I still never made a sale. Not one.

I then came across an ASOS Marketplace flyer advertising that I could make unlimited listings every month for free and pay only when I sell. So I listed all my items after hours of photo taking. One day, to my surprise I got an email from ASOS notifying me that someone had just made me an offer below my asking price. I accepted straight away!

I have 20 items in my collection and if you’re one of my blog followers and are interested in purchasing 2 or more of my products, comment below for an exclusive Promo Code!

If you, like me, have been trying to sell but have never succeeded, I will try to do a photo-tips post as well as P&P post so that you can make the first impression as well as a lasting impression with your shop!

Getting a Job/Internship

After reading countless ‘How to Create a Winning CV’ books for nearly a year and being unsuccessful in job interviews I landed myself into the perfect part time job in February. What’s more impressive was that I got the interview the night after sending off the application and got the job the day after the interview! This was one of my biggest accomplishments and just what I needed as I was brought to the point of believing myself to be completely unemployable when I have so much to give.

Passing my Driving Test

This has been one of the most emotional roller-coasters of my life. I had failed countless driving tests for small reasons like…

– “parking too far away from the curb” and in the next test…

– “parking too close to the curb” and in another test…

– “not looking long enough in the rear-view mirror”…etc etc etc.

These are the most ridiculous reasons to fail me, especially because my general driving and manoeuvres were said to be POLISHED to PERFECTION. I had spend exactly 12 months failing tests for small reasons whilst others were passing with more faults than mine. I went home crying over my fail sheets showing only 1 minor and 1 so-called “serious”. This has led me to realise how these driving tests are only a matter of LUCK. This is very unfair. Just as I was on the point of taking legal action I had passed my 6th test, tears of relief over-whelmed me and I have since looked at my life so differently. This may sound like a bit too much for a ‘driving test’ but this test meant so much to me, so much so that it was having a detrimental effect on other parts of my life. I am now so appreciative of the smallest things.

I am therefore going to be doing a post about my whole experience and everything that I have learnt from it, if you are in the same position as me I hope that you could benefit from it.

Sweaters are Boring!

17 Sep

It is just the beginning of Autumn and I want to stay looking and feeling my best but the cold mornings just make me want to throw on a warm sweater and a pair of jeans without even thinking about it. In this post I am going to show you how I spiced up my sweater this cold morning…

ImageIn the photo above I am wearing a striped navy and grey knit sweater (Hollister £34) with a pair of dark washed (New Look) super skinny jeans. This is what I would normally wear when I have just rolled out of bed on a cold morning but this morning, on impulse, I grabbed my bright pink skinnies and threw them on with this sweater and thought ‘Wow that actually really works!’

Image

I bought these jeans (Topshop Motto Kristen Jeans £40) during the summer and it worked really well with my summer tops but I never thought of incorporating this into my Autumn wardrobe at all until today. These jeans really brighten me up both literally and emotionally, I feel so much more happier wearing my bright colours, and they also brighten up the sweater.

I’m still so in love with my coloured denim that I can’t let Autumn take them away from me and this is one of the ways I am wearing my bright colours against the swarm of greys and blacks I am going to be surrounded by this Autumn/Winter. This is why it’s so great to experiment with the pieces you already have, now I can get wear out of my coloured jeans and feel great during the chilly months.

To calm the look down a bit I wore this with a tan coloured pair of ballet flats.

Image

If you’re not daring enough to try this look out but still want to make a bit of effort on your sweater-jeans outfit you could wear coloured flats instead and turn up the jeans at the end to create a really relaxed but thought about look…

That Dress I Will Never Wear!

2 Sep

I have had a late Wardrobe clear-out to put in my new Autumn gear, I say late because I usually do this at the start-mid August. I’m an early-bird when it comes to clothes. I am so excited about Autumn/Winter 2012 and cannot wait to try out some warm Autumn inspired nail art to keep you feeling warm in the coming chilly months.

I have had to get rid of a lot of things since they won’t fit in my Wardrobe with all the new stuff I have bought. I’m one of those people who only wear their few new pieces. I know I know it’s so bad but I cannot help it.

During this clear-out I rediscovered so many pieces of clothing and surprisingly I am excited to be  wearing them from now on. I also realised I had a lot of items of clothing that were brand new condition that I never got to wear and probably never will. So I decided to start an eBay with all my unwanted unworn and brand new clothes. It was all fun taking the photos, I love capturing great photos for my blog and now for my eBay. Hope you like my pieces.

Check them out here first!

Image

I bought this because it’s pretty and pretty to look at when I open my wardrobe but never wore it. I hope that it can go to a new wardrobe and look pretty on the person wearing it. This piece is perfect for a special occasion, I love how the fabric just drapes elegantly into a bubble-hem.

Image

This was mean for Autumn but isn’t really my style. But if I was this top’s style, I’d wear this with wet-look leggings and studded chelsea boots and maybe a biker jacket.

Image

Oh my florals! I have so many floral dresses they are uncountable, and since this is my unworn one and still in brand new retail-sellable condition I decided to to put this up for sale. But reluctantly of course, I love my florals too much.

Image

I don’t feel comfortable wearing ones-shoulder dresses or anything showing me off really so I decided to give this one away too. I love that it’s studded though, studs are absolutely perfect for A/W 2012!

Image

Ah the lace shrug! I felt this a bit revealing too! I don’t wear black so I don’t even know why I bought it, same went for the studded one-shoulder face dress.

Image

This is a Bandeau jump-suit. This will see you through day and night. The full leg length elongates your legs making you appear taller and slimmer. Wear under a cardigan and with flat ballet pumps/sandals in the day, and throw on a pair of glamorous heels for the night and maybe the lace shrug above.

And what’s more, all prices are negotiable! Check it all out here!

Ultimate Glitter

20 Jul

I’ve been looking for the ultimate Glitter nail polish for ages. One that would make nails look completely glittered up and not look like bits of glitter are scattered with white nail spaces visible. When I was in River Island the cashier had bright orange glitter nails, I asked about them and she said they were gel ones. I hate gel ones, they feel so heavy and weigh down my fingertips. As I was browsing River Island online, I added Glitter NYX Salon Nail Polish to basket on impulse and it happened to be ‘the one’. It’s a bronze colour, exactly what it looks like but doesn’t seem to have a name.

With just two coats of NYX Glitter Polish, it sprinkled and sparkled a very glittery and smooth finish without even needing a top coat like usual glitter nail polish due to the rough texture. This has absolutely no rough or uneven texture, absolutely smooth with each stroke.

I used Elf Polish ‘Innocent‘ as a base for this and Barry M’s 3 in spa 1 Base Coat Top Coat and Nail Hardener all in one as the top coat.

Wearing Elf’s Innocent (the little finger was a little experiment of what one single coat of the NYX Glitter Polish would look). I think this is a glam look that would take you from the end of summer throughout Autumn/Winter 2012 adding a bit of sparkle to the dull days to come.

Feeling Mellow GO YELLOW

15 May

Image

I had never thought to try out yellow nail paint of all colours. I simply never thought it would look good on me. season has been all about change and trying out new looks for me; I’ve been daring myself a lot. From dressing up, and looking at the most – what I would have called – “outrageous” outfits, I have learnt a lot about what I love about this seasons picks and about myself and my own image in terms of fashion.

It was when I was looking for a colour for the middle of my daisies in my Daisy Nail Art Tutorial when I thought, ‘hang on, I could use this as just a plain nail polish for my whole nail’ and that’s when the magic took effect! It looks amazing and I got compliments. I think it was just that stand-outishness of it that got people’s attention.

Confessions of a Fashionista: I’m a Magpie…well…A Tag Collecting One

9 Apr

I KEEP tags! Well…only pretty tags. I just cannot throw them away!

Image

River Island

I love the classic River Island tags because they just look like they’re quilted, but quilted paper. I love anything quilted and so very Chanel.

Image

Other River Island Tags I kept…

Ok so, moving onto Miso Vintage. I love the delicate colours and as you can see the round pastel blue and pink ones have real buttons attached! ACTUAL REAL buttons. Oh and the cream one with the lace is beautiful, I just love how they thought to use lace instead of a bit of plastic. You can just feel the amount of thought that has gone into producing these beautiful tags. These are my favourites of ALL! They’re just so delicate and cute.

Ribbon and Red or Dead from Bank

And I keep these pretty little things in this pretty little gold box…

…as well as the spare buttons I get with the buttoned clothes I buy.

TOP TIP 1: Always keep the buttons in their plastic packaging they come in, so this way they won’t get damaged by rubbing against each other or any sharp or pointy object. TOP TIP 2: Always keep them in the same pot, a small one as soon as you cut it off your tag, this way you will never ever forget about them or lose them.

So I think I have come to the conclusion of why I collect pretty little tags. They reflect what I like in fashion, I love to buy anything lacey, pearly, buttoned and PASTEL clothing! I’d like to know what you think of my collecting tags confession and whether you do the same too!

The Hidden Height Booster!

23 Mar

Image

I was browsing River Island yesterday and I came across these High-Tops and thought and wanted to report about it straight away! This has a hidden heel, I have always thought that wedges or hidden platforms sort of did the job. I love the idea of a hidden heel. The idea of no one knowing you’re not as tall as you look is exciting. It’s like being able to lie about being tall.

I am already tall, but I can never ever be separated from my heels, and I think I want these high-tops myself – but they’d have to be pink. They’re big this season and have made it to music sensation Lana Del Rey’s feet too.

Of course, they are a bit on the boyish side, but I like a twist from my girliness now and then. Let me know what you think of these.
