All Prepped Up | Outfit of the Day

I’ve been feeling a bit boyish lately, actually for a very long time now. I was always a dress-girl but don’t get me wrong I still love wearing dresses and especially in the winter since I can throw it on with leggings and a chunky cardigan.

I have been wearing shirts and sweaters with jeans A LOT. Maybe it’s been due to the rise of the coloured and patterned skinnies that are still around during these cold months. I just can’t get enough of my jeans, I always hated jeans and once upon a time only owned two pairs! TWO pairs! And that wasn’t long ago.

Today I put on this Gingham Check Shirt with Bright Pink skinny jeans. As well as boyish this shirt makes me feel a bit preppy. I thought I should brighten up this look with wearing these jeans again. I’ve been wearing it with my navy jumpers and the contrast is so daring but it looks great and I think it’s a nice twist to the boyfriend fit shirt. I bought this a size up without trying it on as I do with all shirt and I kind of regret it since it does fit a big baggy on me.

And just to calm it down I wore plain black pallet flats.

This look is a bit daring to pull off and I am nervous to put it up and out there but I am excited to know what you think of it. Hope you like!

Sweaters are Boring!

17 Sep

It is just the beginning of Autumn and I want to stay looking and feeling my best but the cold mornings just make me want to throw on a warm sweater and a pair of jeans without even thinking about it. In this post I am going to show you how I spiced up my sweater this cold morning…

ImageIn the photo above I am wearing a striped navy and grey knit sweater (Hollister £34) with a pair of dark washed (New Look) super skinny jeans. This is what I would normally wear when I have just rolled out of bed on a cold morning but this morning, on impulse, I grabbed my bright pink skinnies and threw them on with this sweater and thought ‘Wow that actually really works!’

Image

I bought these jeans (Topshop Motto Kristen Jeans £40) during the summer and it worked really well with my summer tops but I never thought of incorporating this into my Autumn wardrobe at all until today. These jeans really brighten me up both literally and emotionally, I feel so much more happier wearing my bright colours, and they also brighten up the sweater.

I’m still so in love with my coloured denim that I can’t let Autumn take them away from me and this is one of the ways I am wearing my bright colours against the swarm of greys and blacks I am going to be surrounded by this Autumn/Winter. This is why it’s so great to experiment with the pieces you already have, now I can get wear out of my coloured jeans and feel great during the chilly months.

To calm the look down a bit I wore this with a tan coloured pair of ballet flats.

If you’re not daring enough to try this look out but still want to make a bit of effort on your sweater-jeans outfit you could wear coloured flats instead and turn up the jeans at the end to create a really relaxed but thought about look…

That Dress I Will Never Wear!

2 Sep

I have had a late Wardrobe clear-out to put in my new Autumn gear, I say late because I usually do this at the start-mid August. I’m an early-bird when it comes to clothes. I am so excited about Autumn/Winter 2012 and cannot wait to try out some warm Autumn inspired nail art to keep you feeling warm in the coming chilly months.

I have had to get rid of a lot of things since they won’t fit in my Wardrobe with all the new stuff I have bought. I’m one of those people who only wear their few new pieces. I know I know it’s so bad but I cannot help it.

During this clear-out I rediscovered so many pieces of clothing and surprisingly I am excited to be  wearing them from now on. I also realised I had a lot of items of clothing that were brand new condition that I never got to wear and probably never will. So I decided to start an eBay with all my unwanted unworn and brand new clothes. It was all fun taking the photos, I love capturing great photos for my blog and now for my eBay. Hope you like my pieces.

Check them out here first!

I bought this because it’s pretty and pretty to look at when I open my wardrobe but never wore it. I hope that it can go to a new wardrobe and look pretty on the person wearing it. This piece is perfect for a special occasion, I love how the fabric just drapes elegantly into a bubble-hem.

Image

This was mean for Autumn but isn’t really my style. But if I was this top’s style, I’d wear this with wet-look leggings and studded chelsea boots and maybe a biker jacket.

Image

Oh my florals! I have so many floral dresses they are uncountable, and since this is my unworn one and still in brand new retail-sellable condition I decided to to put this up for sale. But reluctantly of course, I love my florals too much.

Image

I don’t feel comfortable wearing ones-shoulder dresses or anything showing me off really so I decided to give this one away too. I love that it’s studded though, studs are absolutely perfect for A/W 2012!

Image

Ah the lace shrug! I felt this a bit revealing too! I don’t wear black so I don’t even know why I bought it, same went for the studded one-shoulder face dress.

This is a Bandeau jump-suit. This will see you through day and night. The full leg length elongates your legs making you appear taller and slimmer. Wear under a cardigan and with flat ballet pumps/sandals in the day, and throw on a pair of glamorous heels for the night and maybe the lace shrug above.

And what’s more, all prices are negotiable! Check it all out here!

Topshop’s Amazing Floral Blouse

21 Aug

Topshop's Amazing Floral Blouse

I have been on a massive shopping spree and bought some amazing clothes for Autumn/Winter 2012 already and I couldn’t wait to bring you my new haul since it included this gorgeous floral blouse which I am really excited about.
Wow, long sentence. Bad bad.

I love the floral print on this. Topshop have a newer version of this floral blouse which I also loved but made my sister buy it since I couldn’t justify spending a total of £80 on two blouses that are the same but with a slightly different print for myself.

I love the whole floral design and the black panel in the middle covering the buttons. The fabric is breathable and is perfect for all four seasons and anything in between, it’s so light and flowy I can feel the quality. What’s more, I can do so so so so sooooo much with it in terms of styling.

I’ve tried it on with a few stuff and it is so much more versatile than I thought. I won’t go into it now since I am planning a ‘Wear it More than Once’ blog post on it.

This was meant to be just a few quick words and my mac’s messy photobooth photo to summarise this blouse’s amazingness, but I seem to have got carried away. I have a feeling I will be posting quick photos on my blog for more things like this so I might set up a category for it though I don’t know what I should name it. Any ideas?

Ultimate Glitter

20 Jul

I’ve been looking for the ultimate Glitter nail polish for ages. One that would make nails look completely glittered up and not look like bits of glitter are scattered with white nail spaces visible. When I was in River Island the cashier had bright orange glitter nails, I asked about them and she said they were gel ones. I hate gel ones, they feel so heavy and weigh down my fingertips. As I was browsing River Island online, I added Glitter NYX Salon Nail Polish to basket on impulse and it happened to be ‘the one’. It’s a bronze colour, exactly what it looks like but doesn’t seem to have a name.

With just two coats of NYX Glitter Polish, it sprinkled and sparkled a very glittery and smooth finish without even needing a top coat like usual glitter nail polish due to the rough texture. This has absolutely no rough or uneven texture, absolutely smooth with each stroke.

I used Elf Polish ‘Innocent‘ as a base for this and Barry M’s 3 in spa 1 Base Coat Top Coat and Nail Hardener all in one as the top coat.

Wearing Elf’s Innocent (the little finger was a little experiment of what one single coat of the NYX Glitter Polish would look). I think this is a glam look that would take you from the end of summer throughout Autumn/Winter 2012 adding a bit of sparkle to the dull days to come.

Colour-block trend Nails!

13 Jun

I know the last few nail art designs I have done so far have been rather complicated to do but this one is really quick and easy and I love it so much that I have done this with many other colours. I just wanted to share my more ‘tropical’ one with you. As you may already be aware that tropical styled clothes are everywhere this holiday season and this colour-block nail art adds the finishing touch to your tropical look.

You will need, ANY two colours that are compatible. I used…

– My regular Base and Top Coat.

– Rimmel London Lycra Pro in Coral Romance

– Rimmel London Lasting Finish in Tangerine Queen

Image

Step 1: As always apply basecoat and let it dry.

Image

Step 2: Apply your lightest colour.

Image

Step 3: Carefully apply the second colour on the other half of your nail, whichever half you prefer of course. I found this very easy and maybe it was Rimmel’s mistake free application brush that helped a lot. You may wish to use a thin nail art brush to create a neat line or masking tape as I use for some of my nail art.
