Sweaters are Boring!

17 Sep

It is just the beginning of Autumn and I want to stay looking and feeling my best but the cold mornings just make me want to throw on a warm sweater and a pair of jeans without even thinking about it. In this post I am going to show you how I spiced up my sweater this cold morning…

ImageIn the photo above I am wearing a striped navy and grey knit sweater (Hollister £34) with a pair of dark washed (New Look) super skinny jeans. This is what I would normally wear when I have just rolled out of bed on a cold morning but this morning, on impulse, I grabbed my bright pink skinnies and threw them on with this sweater and thought ‘Wow that actually really works!’

Image

I bought these jeans (Topshop Motto Kristen Jeans £40) during the summer and it worked really well with my summer tops but I never thought of incorporating this into my Autumn wardrobe at all until today. These jeans really brighten me up both literally and emotionally, I feel so much more happier wearing my bright colours, and they also brighten up the sweater.

I’m still so in love with my coloured denim that I can’t let Autumn take them away from me and this is one of the ways I am wearing my bright colours against the swarm of greys and blacks I am going to be surrounded by this Autumn/Winter. This is why it’s so great to experiment with the pieces you already have, now I can get wear out of my coloured jeans and feel great during the chilly months.

To calm the look down a bit I wore this with a tan coloured pair of ballet flats.

If you’re not daring enough to try this look out but still want to make a bit of effort on your sweater-jeans outfit you could wear coloured flats instead and turn up the jeans at the end to create a really relaxed but thought about look…

Soap & Glory: Sugar Crush Body Scrub…Scratched!

10 Sep

I have recently tried out the Soap & Glory: Sugar Crush Body Scrub to find out what all the hype was about. I am not going to rave about this since this is the first ever body scrub I have actually used on a routine basis so I don’t really have much to compare it to…but I do love it.

I am not really a fan of any kind of scrub whether it be face scrub or body scrub, the scrubbing bits inside them make me feel like I am being scratched ferociously. Anyway, moving back to the subject of Soap & Glory’s Scrub, I really like it. Whether it is me genuinely loving it or forcing myself to love it because it works wonders on my skin, I don’t know. It doesn’t matter anyway, at least its working its magic and that is all we need. Isn’t it?

Image

I am one of those people who can’t settle for the same thing for a long period of time. Don’t get me wrong, I love my showing routine but I just love indulging in a new body soap here and a lotion there. I have a fixed and perfect skin routine, but I just want more!

This Soap & Glory purchase was my ‘more!’

So this has been added into my showering routine.

Up close and Personal…

…not so pretty are we?

It does look like a yucky mess but that’s because it is one of those 100% Organic things that are ugly but make you beautiful.

The first thing I noticed when applying it were the little black balls, they are the ones that act the scrubbing (or should I say scratching) mechanism. Which is good because it really removes off all the dead skin very quickly leaving a beautifying baby soft feeling to your skin. It smells very fresh and zesty but tastes like brown sugar…yes I’ve tasted it! But unintentionally, I promise!

One thing to note though, I do have to use a lot of it for it to work and coming at £8.00 I don’t think it will be lasting me very much longer.

And that is all I have to say about the Soap & Glory: Sugar Crush Body Scrub.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this review!

American Flag Nails: New Technique!

10 Sep

Remember the american flag nails I attempted for the first time? It was a bit of a gamble to promise to blog about something I have never tried and wasn’t absolutely certain it would work out. But I did it, and here’s me doing it again!

Click the image to see my old post.

Image

Except with a different technique! I am adding this to the ‘MODERATE’ on difficulty as this is so much more easier and quicker and mess-free than my first one.

You will need:

Image

– Nail Art Polish in Red and Blue (or a nail art pen in red and blue, or nail art brush)

– BarryM Matt White

– BarryM 3 in 1 Basecoat Topcoat & Nail Hardener All in One

Step 1: Apply base coat.

Step 2: After the base coat has dried apply white nail polish.

Image

(This isn’t the blue I will be using this time. This was the old blue I used on my first post about these nails, but if you like, this is Barry M’s Cobalt Blue).

The difference: (Left) New polish, (Right) Old polish.

Step 3: After the white polish has dried use a red nail art pen or nail art brush to draw vertical red lines.

Step 4: After the red lines are dried, draw on a rectangular box to the left of the flag with a blue nail art pen or brush. (If this is your left hand then it should be against the end of your nail, and if it is your right hand, it should be against the tip of your fingernails. (Left hand only is illustrated in the image below).

Image

Step 5: As you can see in the image above, I have filled one in, after drawing the rectangles, fill them in.

After this, when your nails have dried, gloss over with a top coat. I used my usual BarryM 3 in 1 Basecoat Topcoat & Nail Hardener All in One.

Have you just tried this out? Let me know which of my techniques suited you.

That Dress I Will Never Wear!

2 Sep

I have had a late Wardrobe clear-out to put in my new Autumn gear, I say late because I usually do this at the start-mid August. I’m an early-bird when it comes to clothes. I am so excited about Autumn/Winter 2012 and cannot wait to try out some warm Autumn inspired nail art to keep you feeling warm in the coming chilly months.

I have had to get rid of a lot of things since they won’t fit in my Wardrobe with all the new stuff I have bought. I’m one of those people who only wear their few new pieces. I know I know it’s so bad but I cannot help it.

During this clear-out I rediscovered so many pieces of clothing and surprisingly I am excited to be  wearing them from now on. I also realised I had a lot of items of clothing that were brand new condition that I never got to wear and probably never will. So I decided to start an eBay with all my unwanted unworn and brand new clothes. It was all fun taking the photos, I love capturing great photos for my blog and now for my eBay. Hope you like my pieces.

Check them out here first!

Image

I bought this because it’s pretty and pretty to look at when I open my wardrobe but never wore it. I hope that it can go to a new wardrobe and look pretty on the person wearing it. This piece is perfect for a special occasion, I love how the fabric just drapes elegantly into a bubble-hem.

Image

This was mean for Autumn but isn’t really my style. But if I was this top’s style, I’d wear this with wet-look leggings and studded chelsea boots and maybe a biker jacket.

Image

Oh my florals! I have so many floral dresses they are uncountable, and since this is my unworn one and still in brand new retail-sellable condition I decided to to put this up for sale. But reluctantly of course, I love my florals too much.

Image

I don’t feel comfortable wearing ones-shoulder dresses or anything showing me off really so I decided to give this one away too. I love that it’s studded though, studs are absolutely perfect for A/W 2012!

Image

Ah the lace shrug! I felt this a bit revealing too! I don’t wear black so I don’t even know why I bought it, same went for the studded one-shoulder face dress.

Image

This is a Bandeau jump-suit. This will see you through day and night. The full leg length elongates your legs making you appear taller and slimmer. Wear under a cardigan and with flat ballet pumps/sandals in the day, and throw on a pair of glamorous heels for the night and maybe the lace shrug above.

And what’s more, all prices are negotiable! Check it all out here!
